The Slieau Lhost Small Arms Range enterance is approximately 150 yards south of Windy Corner on the Mountain Road (A18).
Our range was built in a disused quarry and first used competitively for the 2000 Millennium Federation Championships. His Excellency The Lieutenant Governor Air Marshal Ian Macfadyen CB, OBE officially opened the facility on the 27th May 2001 prior to our hosting the cartridge pistol events for the 2001 Island Games.
The small arms facility at Slieau Lhost consists of four ranges, a 50 metre and 25 metre range, both of which have 20 firing points with turning targets and two practical ranges. The facility is approximatly 1500 feet above sea level so it can be cold; normally some 3/5 degree celsius below the temperature at sea level.
